Getting started
Ren'Go plays Ren'Py visual novels on your iPhone and iPad. It needs iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later. You bring the games: Ren'Go doesn't include or download them.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Get the Windows, Mac, Linux or Android build of a game you own. ZIP, APK, 7z and RAR archives work, and so does a whole folder.
Import and play
Section titled “Import and play”- Open Ren'Go. The first launch shows the Welcome screen. Tap "Try the Sample Game" to see a game run first.
- To bring in your own game, tap "Import Your First Game", or tap the plus button in the Library, and pick the game from the Files app.
- Ren'Go unpacks it, finds the game inside and picks the right engine for you.
- Tap the game in the Library, then tap Play.
Playing
Section titled “Playing”- Tap to read, and swipe back to roll back.
- The overlay strip on the edge of the screen holds the menu, skip, auto, quick save, quick load, hide UI and screenshots. It folds to a handle, and you tap the handle to open it.
- A virtual cursor is there for games that need a mouse.
- Games start in Ren'Py's touch layout. You can switch a game to the PC layout from its page in the Library.
One game at a time
Section titled “One game at a time”Ren'Go plays one game per app session. To play another game, swipe Ren'Go away from the app switcher and open it again.
